Kesarval Spring is located 22 km away from Panaji off the National Highway connecting the city of Margao. You can reach the site of this beautiful spring by crossing the bridge over the Zuari river and passing through Cortalim village. The site of the spring has a dense undergrowth and the forest land consist of tropical trees. Amidst this pure and untouched nature, in the middle of swaying beetle nut palm, Kesarval spring erupts.
The world Kesarval has a meaning. In India it means eagle. Once it was in these forest slopes that hundreds of eagles lived and mastered over the earth from the sky. Decades ago, there was only a trail made by continuous traveling on foot but now stares are made so that people who want to bath in the spring might not have to face a lot of difficulty. The spring has a reputation of its own among the people of the area as well as among the tourists who come here. t is popularly believed that the water of the spring has medicinal properties and can cure a number of diseases.
Kesarval Spring has become a natural spa. Both young and the old can be seen taking a dip in the water of Kesarval spring for rejuvenation. Appreciating the popularity of the destination, the Tourism Department has earmarked the place as a tourism destination. During monsoon, the rough and tumbling water of the spring can be a treat to watch. |
