Dudhsagar Waterfalls plunging full and furious from the high peaks of the Western Ghats is the perfect place for a romantic getaway. The waterfall is named Dudhsagar because from a distance it looks like milk rushing down the side of a mountain and from a stiff cliff plunging straight into a pool. From the source to the plunge pool, the waterfall is 600 m high. Located on the Goa - Karnataka border, the waterfall is a major attraction for the tourists who visit the place. From the near vertical cliff face, the water plunges into the pool below.
Set amidst the breathtaking beauty of the crescent shaped hill, the beautiful green carpet of the tropical forest have become a major tourist attraction. The accessibility of the place by rail and road has made it a tourist hot spot. There are a number of private tour operators that co-ordinate conducted tours to Dudhsagar. You can reach the site of the falls from Vasco and Margao as well. There is also a railhead at Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary near Mollem.
There is a railway line connecting Vasco and Londa that passes over the top of the cliff. The view from the train as it passes over the cliff is simply fascinating. The best time to visit the place is between January and May. At this time the water-level becomes shallow permitting jeeps to reach near the plunge pool.
