Location:
The beautiful Vagator Beach is located in the North of Goa and is only 22 km away from Panaji. The best way to reach the place is by road. Car rental is available and it will not take more than half an hour by car to reach this beautiful beach. There are also bus service available and if you so desire you can travel there on a super-deluxe or a deluxe bus. The best time to visit the place is between November to February. Summers here can be pretty oppressive. The winters, however, is very pleasant.

The beautiful Vagator Beach with its soft golden sand has a fine landmark, the Chapora Fort. This fort lies in the northern part of the beach and is the most famous landmark of the place. You will also see some farmhouses and Portuguese bungalows. This is a fine place for sea enthusiasts. The beach has shades of palm trees and you can enjoy the scenic beauty of the rocky bay thoroughly here.
The place is a gourmet's paradise and if you love fish, the place will surely be your dream destination. You will have the opportunity to taste some of the delicious sea food. Fish here is cheap and there are a lot of variety that you will get in the market. You will also have other things to purchase too. The place is famous for handicrafts and surely the artistry and beauty of the items on display will compel you to make a purchase.

At Vagator Beach, you will not encounter any difficulty in spotting a room for yourself. There are a number of hotels and guest houses here. If you travel during the peak tourist season, it is always better to book hotels well in advance. The best alternative is to stay near Calangute or Baga beach and come to Vagator for a tour.
Special Destination:
At Vagator, you must visit the Chapora Fort. The fort was built by the Portuguese rulers some 500 years ago. The fort is a major attraction simply because of the fact that it offers fascinating view of the sea. The countryside covered with coconut groves and lush paddy fields provide for breath-taking scenery. |
